The Invisible Shrinking Man

where is the love

My broadcasting vocation seems to be settling into itself nicely . I've still never listened to a recording of myself and would still be reluctant to .

Everything I've heard from anyone who knows me who's listened has been positive . But I'm my own most fiercely analytical critic , and am still learning , and finding my natural radio presenting style , and , I know I've got better , and I think that I'm okay at it , and have some natural talent , for choosing the right music , and for being intelligently spontaneous , adaptable , articulate and witty .

I'm sure it's still noticeable that I'm an amateur , though I hope that by this summer I'll have more than one regular weekly slot ( though sometimes I 'sit in' for other presenters who can't be there ) , and that I'll sound something like semi-professional .

I was the first presenter, on my local community radio station , yesterday afternoon , to announce details of how to donate to the DEC Haiti Earthquake Appeal . It's such a desperately awful situation , and currently frustrating for everyone , especially of course for those directly affected , that for various reasons the urgently needed aid seems not yet to be being effectively dispersed and disbursed .

But it will be , and I would urge anyone to seriously consider making a donation , large or small .
