Glorious Galdana
The date today is Friday the 10th of October and I am continuing the report on my holiday in Menorca. This blog is for Sunday the 10th of September our second full day on Spanish soil. On Sunday we drove to Cala Galdana which is a beautiful sandy bay fringed by pine trees and guarded out to sea by two rocky headlands, the right hand one of which sports a number of ancient pines clinging on to the rock at crazy angles providing a back drop to a small terraced bar and restaurant, which is shoe horned into the side of the headland where it overhangs the turquoise water of the bay and commands an uninterrupted view of the beach. Between the beach and the near vertical pine clad cliffs guarding its rear is a wide asphalt pathway which is dotted with bars and various stalls which huddle in the shade. There is one bar which is on the beach itself although this in turn makes full use of the shade afforded by the ubiquitous pine trees and it was at this watering hole where we stopped to have a drink and people watch, a pastime which although enjoyable on any occasion, is even more so when you have nothing else to do and the people you are watching are also relaxed and generally happy.

My thoughts on this sunny carefree Sunday were sunny and carefree as well and my human contact although slightly voyeuristic was genuinely benign. My deed was to drive to Cala Galdana.
