2)     Which do you disagree with (if any)?            I do not disagree with any simply because they all are very important.

3)     Do you think they leave anything important out, if so explain what?   I do not think they have lefty any thing out about computers. All these points are valid.

4)      What is not covered above that should be covered?

How could you advise a visually disabled friend to complain about a website they couldn't access?

A visually disabled person may have problems with the colours on the page or maybe even the size of the text.

Size of text can be changed using the view drop down menu and then seleting text size.

If they do have these problems a visually disabled person would have to complain to a higher authority who deals with disablitly rights the disabilty discrimnation act 1995 states standards to make the websites more suitable  of visually disabled people.

In your own words explain what are the advantages and disadvantages of 3-Tier Architecture in Web development?

A three tier architecture is a 3 way interaction in a client/server environment.

the user interface is stored in the client, the bulk of business application is stored in one or more servers and the data are stored in a database server.

Benefits: it divides application processing across multiple machienes

it optimizes client workstations

optimizes the server for data processing and storage

reduces data replication

Disadvantages: it has development issues-  it is not portable to other database server platforms

it also has performance issues it does not have good performance in medium and high volume environments.

$ week 7 (13/11/2008)

“With hindsight, what advice would you give to next year's students about preparing for the A1W group presentation?”

My advice would be to have regular meetings on what you are doing, if you need any help, and so you can rehearse your presentation. A good presentation is when you are not looking at your notes and when you know alot about what you are talking about so reseach as much as you can it will help u understand the topic and will be easier for to talk about it.

Describe THREE typical functions performed by the Apache HTTP Web Server?

It is mainly used static and dynamic web servers.

Programmers who develop web applications use Apache in order to preview and test code as it is being developed.

Compare the similarities and differences between the terms ‘Static’ and Dynamic’ Web sites?

main similarity is that they are both developed using coding.

difference is:That static sites are easier to develop and needs simple coding whereas dynamic sites more complex coding.

the information on static websites do not change as much whereas the information on dynamic sites do change often .

$ week 5 (30/10/2008)

Your task for this week’s Blog Assignment is to select one (from the given list of 10 items above) which you think will be most important for your Groupwork assignment and explain your reasons why you have made this choice?

You should aim to hold at least three planning meetings which will be minuted

I think that  this is important, if you do not hold meetings and record it then you do not know what you are doing as a group. If regular meetings are held then you can all help eachother if you are having difficulties. In my opinion the more meetings you have the more organised you will be.

$ week 4 (23/10/2008)

In your own view, give:

  • Two advantage AND also
  • Two disadvantage

of using a mobile internet device for sending and retrieving email messages?

Advantages: If you are on the move all the time for example you work for a company meaning you are on the road all the time and you need to get messages sent quick then email on your phone can  be very handy as you can just write it out and send it knowing that message will be sent in an instant.

To use the internet it costs less then when you use it at home using broadband.

Disadvantage: These devices require IP addresses and they seem to be running out and if manyu people start using the net on these devices we will run out of IP addresses very quickly.

It will not work if there is no network in the area.

$ Week 3 (16/10/2008)

Describe (using your own words) why IP addresses for devices connected to the Internet are due to run out shortly and propose what possible solutions have been put forward to address this massive ‘time-bomb’?

IP addresses might soon run out because there are many people around the world who use the interent on many devices. Internet can now be used not only on computers but on phones too you can view your emails on your mobile and for this you need an IP therefore that one person may have 2 IP addresses. If 1 person has 2 IP addresses and with many people around the world using the net it is likely for IP addresses to run out.

IPv6 is the new formula which is a combination of 6 intergers allowing new addresses to be made.

$ Blog Questions for Week 2 (9/10/2008)

Describe how the www.Yahoo.com search engine works and give one advantage and one disadvantage in this method of searching?

Yahoo is technically not a search engine its a web resource. When you search for something on yahoo you are not searching the entire web.

Advantages: If you know what u are searching for then yahoo should be on top of your list because it is an oragnised web.

Disadvantages: only a small portion of the wb has been catalogued.

Describe how the www.Google.com search engine works and give one advantage and one disadvantage in this method of searching?

Google uses algorithms to generate search results. Google uses programs like spiders and crawlers. Google has a wide range of keywords and when searched google puts it in rank order which page will be most useful.

Advantage:quick and easy to use.

Disadvantage: It is partly true that google may not always find what you are looking for. There aren't many disadvantages for google because it is a very good and fast search engine people rely on this search engine alot.

I prefer using google because even when you provide it with one keyword it will still come out with good results.

$ week 1- Is a Blog message ‘personal’ to Author or is it ‘public’ on the Internet? (2/10/2008)

A blog message is "personal" in terms that it could be about you yourself. it could be your  opinions and thoughts about a particular subject.

However it is public in the sense that everyone can see your views and thoughts that you have put on that particular subject.
