I am gonna do this as though you have never heard of me, as there appears to be a whole new legion of fans who couldn't possibly have been there in the 60's and 70's when the newspapers called me 'The hardest working man in Butlins' (That bit was a joke as I did Pontins more than Butlins - the staff weren't as polished my my were they pertty!!) First picked up a guitar at the age of 8, when my big brother bought me a Beatle guitar, complete with a George wig. I was more into The Stones back then but my voice didnt break till '67. I got my first break in 1970 playing halls up and down the country as second guitarist with Archie Roberts Band. It wasnt my scene but I couldnt argue with £5 per week at the age of 16! I was in with the famous 'Woodroffes scene' in Birmingham around this time. Woodroffes was a music store in Dale End (its now a MacDonalds I think) where, on a Saturday afternoon, you would be chatting and jamming with various members of Sabbath, Move, Trev Burton band, Steve Gibbons band etc. Oh yes the days! Anyway. I was the only person who shopped there but didnt have a deal, so I got picked up by a manager and a label and released my first single in Autumn 71. It got a bit of airplay. I did 12 singles and 3 albums between then and August 1975. Then the bubble burst and my record company decieded to go 'in another direction'. I tried a few things over here, but my records were still selling in Europe, so I concentrated there for the next ten years. I retired in 1986 and became a furniture salesman, but it wasnt for me. Fast forward several career changes and 18 years to 2004 when I started writing songs again and appearing locally on the retro circuit. The rest you know.....
